The Southern Alleghenies region has a proud history in manufacturing. A student video contest—now in its second year—is helping to educate a new generation on how the industry can offer worthwhile career opportunities and contribute to the local and national economy. In just a year since starting My Asylum Collectives, Erika Taylor is taking the leap from online sales to a brick-and-mortar storefront opening April 12 in Downtown Somerset, ready to continue growing her business-to-business sales and tackle the growing tourism market in Somerset County. Along the way, she’s worked with some valuable local resources and mentors. Here’s her story.
