Exploring USDA Small Business Innovation Research Grants

This three-hour workshop will provide an overview of USDA Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) (grants up to $100,000 in Phase I). We’ll discuss why small business owners and their research partners should consider applying to SBIR, the eligibility criteria, the topics of interest to USDA, and how to go about applying for an SBIR award.
Unique to this session is the offer of FREE follow-up coaching support from Penn State Extension to assist small businesses in preparing their grant proposals!

If you are a visionary rural small business owner, an inventive farmer, or a researcher wanting to link with rural businesses, you will enjoy and benefit from this session. This session will also be valuable to Economic Development Professionals, SBDC and SCORE Consultants and Extension Educators who assist innovative, proactive small businesses for whom SBIR is tailor-made. In short, anyone wanting to know more about SBIR (and to receive free coaching support in applying for a grant) will benefit from investing the time by joining us!
