Matt Reckner – Director, Entrepreneurship & Innovation
Hello everyone! My name is Matt Reckner. I’m the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Coach for Somerset County.
My background consists of over 10 years in retail management, another 2 years in banking management, and, for the last 5 years, selling business solutions to small businesses.
I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit, whether it be running the retail store like it was my own business or helping businesses through banking and business solutions to help them thrive.
Growing up in Somerset County, I attended and graduated from the Windber Area School District. I then went on to receive a Bachelors degree in Management and Marketing from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. While attending Pitt-Johnstown, I worked my way through college while working at Sears. This is where I received my first taste of the business world. I even had an internship there to learn about the inner workings of running your own store. Right after graduation, I was hired into my first management role, and my entrepreneurial spirit grew from there.
Most recently, I decided to start my own business that I continue to be a part of, so I know all about the struggles of searching for the right information and tools to use while starting a business. I also understand making that big, and sometimes scary, decision to leap into starting a business on your own.
As a lifelong resident of Somerset County, I believe this is a great place to live, work, and play. There is so much potential here for businesses. Entrepreneurs just need the right guidance and tools to make their dreams and ideas come to be. That is where I come into be your guide along this roller coaster journey of starting and running your own business.
