Our mission is to provide support to regional farmers and food entrepreneurs as they work to produce quality, local foods.

The Field-to-Fork Agricultural Incubator will inspire economic development and new job creation in the Southern Alleghenies region.

TENANTS

The three types of Tenants

“Jarred” food producers – individuals who make jams, jellies, syrups, salsas; any kind of packaged food product that has a pH of 4.0 or less; consideration will be given to those making products between 4.6 and 4.0.

Dried food producers – farmers who grow the berries, tree fruit and vegetables that can be processed, dried and packaged for greater shelf-life of their produce; after vegetable/fruit drying is well-established, consideration will be given to people who intend to purchase USDA processed meats, drying these items to make jerky and other similar items.

Bakers –  individuals who make bread, cookies, bagels, and other fresh, ready-to-eat baked goods individuals who make bread, cookies, bagels, and other fresh, ready-to-eat baked goods.

(All finished value-added products must be shelf-stable.)

This is a “small-run” facility. The Kitchen will be rented on a first come, first serve basis. This schedule will be managed by the Kitchen Manager on a calendar system.
All tenants of the Field to Fork Agricultural Incubator Kitchen must comply with the food enterprise registration requirements set by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services.
Tenants who wish to use the kitchen must provide proof of successful food safety certification training (ServSafe® or equivalent) and attend an initial kitchen training session covering pre-cleaning, usage, and post-cleaning.

Need more hands?

GJCTC Culinary Students will be available to assist farmers and food entrepreneurs if needed during the value-added process. These students will then receive work hours that go towards their certifications.

Need Storage and/or Space?

No problem! The Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center has a limited access, on-site storage facility that is monitored around the clock. Space will be rented out for a monthly fee of $15. Space will also be rented out to tenants needing refrigerator and freezer space. This will be a weekly fee of $15.
