Richelle Shriver, owner, can be found at vendor shows across the Alleghenies– and now on Alleghenies Marketplace– displaying her unique and functional creations.

Inkspiration by Richelle is a passion project that emerged from a love for creativity and the desire to share unique and personalized art pieces with the world. Richelle Shriver, the talented entrepreneur behind the company, has transformed her childhood love for crafting into a business. Through her artistic journey, she has found joy in creating custom pieces that hold special meaning for her customers.

Shriver’s creative journey began with painting ceramics with her grandmother. Her inherited love for crafting, coupled with the discovery of alcohol inks during a search for a Christmas ornament project, set the stage for her artistic endeavors. “I’ve always loved creating, but I’m not a visionary, so I have a hard time picturing the end result,” she said. “The allure of alcohol ink lies in its ability to take on a life of its own, allowing me to embrace the creative process without self-judgment or frustration.”

Many of my items are one-of-a-kind, and I get to do that in a place that is growing and becoming so vibrant.

Embracing the creative process is one thing but transforming it into a business takes it to a whole new level. “I am a creator. I don’t have a strong business mind,” Shriver explained. “I get overwhelmed by the details and make things harder than needed; my coach Matt Reckner has been instrumental in moving my business forward.”

Coasters, mugs, cups and light switch covers among the various products customized by the artist.

“With Richelle’s handcrafted pieces,” Reckner said, “We are excited to have her join the Alleghenies Marketplace to give her a platform to sell her artwork and reach more people.

The region’s revitalization movement provides a welcoming environment for businesses that offer something different and unique. Shriver’s custom-made art pieces perfectly align. “Many of my items are one-of-a-kind,” she said, “and I get to do that in a place that is growing and becoming so vibrant.”

Filled pens that bring color, some sparkle and a whole lot of joy are a customer favorite.

Shriver offers a variety of works, including alcohol ink, glitter pens and, most recently, sublimation services and can turn just about anything into a custom piece. “My grandma passed away in October,” she shared, “and she was an artist and had a bunch of sketches that I loved, and thought were beautiful. I decided to make tumblers with her art which has been so special and helps me when I’m struggling. I can create things that have sentimental meaning and are completely personal and special for other people.”

Her customers are the WHY behind her craft. “Creating tailor-made pieces for my customers is exciting,” Shriver said. “It gives me a sense of purpose when I can bring their vision to life. And my secret sauce is that this is fun… it’s part of why I love to do it.”

Shriver offered this advice for aspiring entrepreneurs: “Don’t be afraid of seeking help from those who have already walked the path. Join online communities and learn from experienced business owners. Find others willing to share their knowledge and support fellow entrepreneurs.”
