After nearly a decade of dreaming about launching an ultra-collaborative wellness hub, Emily Mahler opened the doors of the Wellness Community. “I had this dream for a long time and have always had a passion for networking. This place allows me to give clients what they need and connect them with services best suited for them,” she said.
Mahler said she started with just an idea and Startup Alleghenies helped propel that to a tangible business. “I relied heavily on my coach Matt Reckner. He was instrumental in developing my business plan and providing resources and knowledge to create a roadmap of what needed to be done to be successful,” she said.
“Emily has created the Wellness Community to bring various holistic practitioners together under one roof,” Reckner said. “She had a grand vision of a place of support with something for everyone. And her vision is changing lives in Somerset County and beyond.”
“I have learned from my journey, which allows me to help others with that knowledge,” she said. “More than that, it is an atmosphere of community and support.”
Mahler noticed people in her community were driving to larger cities to gain access to wellness services. “There are many wellness-minded people in this community and a ton of growth to happen here still. When I saw people were looking for holistic options and were willing to travel for them, I knew Somerset was ready for a place of its own,” she said.
That’s when she decided to stop making excuses. “I just had to start,” she noted. “I was already invested in networking and helping others, so this seemed like the next right step.”
The Wellness Community houses her products and services—tinctures, essential oils, gut health products, crystals and frequency scan services. “I have learned from my journey, which allows me to help others with that knowledge,” she said. “More than that, it is an atmosphere of community and support.”
As Mahler approaches her one-year mark, she shared what’s happening now and what’s to come. “We have a life coach, a hypnotherapist and reiki. Soon we will have a massage therapist and red-light therapy. We also plan to add life coaches and reiki practitioners,” she said.
Mahler’s vision is to continue to grow the services to help the community best. As an entrepreneur living her dream, she had this advice— “Contact Startup Alleghenies and then figure out how to make it work and go for it!”
